Dr. Tom Johnson, Professor of Accounting at PSU, Named in "Top 200 Business Gurus" List by Harvard Business School
Portland, OR - Accounting Professor, Tom Johnson was honored to make the “Top 200 Business Gurus” list as one of the only Pacific Northwest academic gurus.
Ranked 194th, Dr. Johnson is in the company of such leading business personalities as Michael Porter, Tom Peters, Peter Drucker, Peter Senge, Bill Gates and Henry Mintzberg. The list, which was published in What’s the Big Idea: Creating and Capitalizing on the Best Management Thinking by Harvard Business School Press was based on three criteria: hits on the Internet search Google, citations in the Social Sciences Citation Index and media mentions in the Lexis Nexis database. The gurus included were made up of four main backgrounds: Business Academics, Consultants, Practicing Managers, and Journalists.
Dr. Johnson, has an A.B. from Harvard University, an M.B.A. from Rutgers University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from University of Wisconsin. He teaches operations management and is recognized worldwide for his extensive research in the design of people-oriented improvement processes for achieving customer satisfaction and profitability in global enterprises, based on Toyota's philosophy of operational excellence.
