Policies and Procedures for Graduation

In order to graduate from Portland State University with a master’s degree in business, you must first apply to graduate. Applying to graduate spins into motion an in-depth degree audit of the courses you have taken (or are taking) to ensure that you do in fact meet the requirements necessary for getting your degree.

The application deadline to graduate is the first Friday of your final quarter. However, in order to meet the deadline, you will need to get the paperwork rolling during your second to last quarter.

The paperwork consists of two forms: GO-12 ADVANCEMENT TO CANDIDACY and the APPLICATION FOR AWARDING OF MASTER’S OR DOCTORAL DEGREE.

The GO-12 Advancement to Candidacy is a checklist of your completed coursework. It lets you know whether or not you meet all of the requirements necessary to graduate. To request a GO-12, contact Pam Mitchell, the Graduate Programs Advisor by phone at 503-725-4733 or by e-mail at pamm@sba.pdx.edu.

The Application for Awarding of Master’s or Doctoral Degree is the form that lets the university know you are getting ready to graduate. You can get this form from Pam Mitchell or from the Office of Graduate Studies, Cramer Hall 117. A $20.00 fee will appear on your PSU bill.
